Here, we’ll take a look at ‘Australia Skilled Nominated Visa’ also called as the ‘Australia Sponsored Visa’ or ‘Australia Provisional Work Visa’ falls under the subclass 489. This is one of the popular visa options for individuals interested in migrating to the country.
The Australia Provisional Work Visa is a points-based visa for skilled professionals who are either nominated by a territory or state or sponsored by a qualified relative residing in any of Australia’s designated areas. This visa is valid for 4 years and working and residing in the specified regional area is a must for this Visa holder. An important and useful feature of this Visa is that certain family members can be included in this application.
The first step in submitting an application for Australia Sponsored Visa is to submit an EOI (Expression of Interest) through SkillSelect.
As mentioned earlier, to apply for this Visa, an individual should either be nominated by a territory or state government or be sponsored by a qualified relative. There are a few basic requirements that need to be met before applying for this visa. The applicant must:
- Have an invitation;
- Be aged between 18 – 50 years when the invitation is issued;
- Be in and nominate an occupation that matches the skills and qualifications of the applicant and is on the relevant skilled occupation list;
- Get the Skill Assessment done by the pertinent assessing authority as per the applicant’s nominated occupation;
- Gain at least 60 points on the test;
- Meet the English Language requirements;
- Satisfy the character and health requirements.
After receiving the invitation to apply for the Australia Provisional Work Visa, the applicant will have 60 days to submit the online application. The process of applying for this Visa will be explained in the invitation. Invitations are strictly based on the claims made in the EOI. The information provided in the EOI must be reflected in the application, and it should be supported by relevant evidence.
This Visa allows the applicant and any dependents to temporarily study, work and reside in any of Australia’s designated regional area. Travelling in and out of Australia while is valid on this Visa and after certain conditions have been met, it also paves the way to an Australian PR (Permanent Residency) through the Skilled Regional Visa (subclass 887).
As this is a Visa that can be applied strictly through invitation, there are a certain obligations that need to be fulfilled. The applicant should stay in the designated territory or state for a minimum of two years, inform the territory or state regarding any change of address, provide information and complete surveys when asked.
